Kids That Rip! has teamed up with Industrial Rideshop for a 3 part skateboard contest series this summer. Not only will there be chances to rack up some cool prizes but also win money! Each contest will be held at KTR on the street course, so you will have the chance to get better each time. Here are the details.
Kids That Rip! is bringing a new theme to Open Skate each 1st Friday of the month from 7-10pm. On May 4th, don’t forget your afro and bell bottoms, because we’ll be thrashin’ to some disco through the night. We’ve got a “Who’s got the Funkiest Costume Contest” and “Grooviest Dance Moves” planned. Of course, if you’ve got an old-school flat ground board, now’s the time to bring out your Rodney Mullen style tricks. See you there! Cost is $15 for the 3hr session.
Silvia Senour has been a frequent skater of Kids That Rip! and inspiring the likes of fellow skaters, coaches and the staff here at KTR.

Last weekend was the Phoenix Am, one of the most highly regarded and respected Am skate contests in the nation. With that being said, the talent that shows up is insane. 21 year old Ben Hatchell took first this year, but 11 year old Jagger Eaton was close behind. Just barely missing the finals, Jagger came in 18th out of 184 contestants! Congrats Jagger!
Kids That Rip! in Mesa is Jagger’s home skatepark, so if you want to skate with him, come to a summer camp or open skate. You’re likely to see him shredding, and pick up some good tips.
Kids That Rip! is gearing up for an awesome summer with new features all around the park! We’ve got a new wedge in the mini-ramp/spine section, new wall-ride on the Mini-MegaRamp and a new extension in the street course. Thanks to our good friend, Jonny Harnish, for offering up his expertise and doing all the building. Come shred!
Congrats Jagger Eaton for winning all 3 EXPERT Divisions (Street, Bowl, Mini Ramp) at King of the Groms! Thank you skaters and families of skaters for coming out and making it such a great event. Check kingofthegroms.net for full results, pics and vids from the contest.

Learn how to do a solid backside 5-0 grind with one of KTR’s own- Tim Bell. Once get this trick down on a manual pad, you can take it to ledges and eventually handrails. Another great place to take your 5-0 is the mini-ramp- just carve into the manual, instead of ollying into it.
